Privacy policy
Contour collects as little as possible. This page explains what’s stored, why, and your choices. Last updated: October 2026.
Who we are
Contour (con-tour.uk) is run by Lee Besley in the United Kingdom. You can contact us on Instagram at @con_tour.game.
What’s stored on your device
Contour keeps some information in your browser’s local storage so the game works and remembers you:
- a random player ID and your chosen leaderboard name, so the game knows which daily challenges you’ve played;
- your settings, your explorer’s outfit, your stats, streak and achievements;
- whether you’ve seen the privacy notice and the how-to-play guide.
This stays on your device. Clearing your browser’s data for con-tour.uk removes it. If you install Contour as an app, a copy of the game is also stored on your device so it can open without a connection.
What our server stores
When you play a daily challenge, our server stores your random player ID, your leaderboard name and your round-by-round results. Your name and score appear on that day’s public leaderboard. We don’t ask for your real name, email address or any account details.
To stop people replaying a daily challenge, the server also keeps a one-way scrambled version of your network (IP) address when you start a daily. It can’t be turned back into your address, it’s used only to limit repeated attempts from one network, and it’s deleted after two days.
Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes network requests in order to deliver the site, as any web host does.
Advertising
Contour may show an advertisement on its home screen, provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and to measure how ads perform. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- If you’re in the UK or the European Economic Area, you’ll be asked for your consent before any personalised advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google’s Ad Settings, or visit aboutads.info to opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Contour itself doesn’t use analytics or tracking cookies.
Children
Contour is suitable for all ages. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children: the only details stored are a random ID and a leaderboard name of the player’s choosing, so please choose a nickname rather than a real name.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete information we hold about you. Because we only store a random ID, please send us your leaderboard name and the date you played so we can find your entries. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If we change how Contour handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
